Celebrate new life through Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism is the joyful receiving of a new life into the Catholic faith and into our community. The Catholic tradition includes the baptism of both adults and infants. Through their faith, parents bring their children to the Sacrament of Baptism. Adults choose to be baptised based on their personal faith and commitment to follow Jesus.
Preparing for Your Child’s Baptism at Sacred Heart Church
When we receive a request for Baptism, the Baptism Preparation Team, comprising Fr David, Pauline McKenna and Ruth Taylor, meets the family a week or so before the Baptism to go through the service and find out if they want a private Baptism with family and friends, or if they’d like to have the Baptism during one of the weekend Masses so the whole Sacred Heart Congregation can welcome God’s new son or daughter into our Church Community. We also ask the family to watch the Alpha video entitled What About the Church?, followed by discussion on how they could be involved in church life going forward.
