Led into Prayer
Social, political and economic events ~ violence, injustice and distress which afflict, especially the poor ~ these all lead the missionary into prayer. We see God totally involved in history, taking the side of humankind ~ not as a bystander or simple witness but as One who labours and works! The Comboni Missionaries believe in God who hears the cry of the poor and enters with all his being into the history and pain of those who are last.
In Jesus, we contemplate a God who, by free initiative, draws close to the sick, the blind, the lame and the paralysed ~ a God who takes interest in the salvation of the human person ~ causing hope to be born in those who have lost hope! For us Comboni Missionaries, to live in close union with this God means to be constantly attentive in order to perceive the initiatives of the Holy Spirit, the protagonist of mission. For us, together with the Church, the mission is that fountain of living waters that heals and gives life!
